Christians?Church arsons?

The first bands to pioneer the style were mostly thrash metal bands that formed the prototype for black metal; they are referred to collectively as the First Wave, and consist of a few bands, such as Venom and Bathory. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, a Second Wave emerged in Norway, including prominent bands like Mayhem and Darkthrone. Although there is no well-defined Third Wave, modern black metal bands have incorporated new musical and lyrical trends into their music.
* Unconventional song structures, devoid of typical verse/chorus segments, and contain extended or repetitive instrumental passages.

Some black metal artists have burned churches, because the Christians forced their religion upon them.NO ONE HAS THE RITE TO CRUSH ONES BELIVES!CHURCH ARSONS ARE SICK THINGS AND THOSE PEOPLE SHOULD STAY IN JAIL!
BUT NO ONE HAS THE RITE TO FORCE THEIR RELIGION UPON OTHERS.THE CHRISTIANS HAD NO RITE TO DO THOSE THINGS BACK IN HISTORY!AGREE?

The problem stems from ancient Norwegian Kings Haakon the Good, Olaf Trygvesson and Olaf Haraldsson who were converted vikings and then thought it would be a good Idea to convert the entire nation. The forcing of ideology upon anyone is despicable as it breeds alot of contempt. In any case though the fascination Black Metal has with satanism probably stems more from the need of youth to rebel against the norms of society (Ihsahn from Emperor once said in an interview that his hometown of Notodden was such a quiet perfect town, perfect for breeding rebels against it), satanism being one of the few things left as our parents already did the sex and drugs thing. Depending upon which sources you read, the problem of satanism, Black Metal and church burnings seems to stem from when Dead (vocalist for Mayhem) committed suicide. Euronymous (guitarist for Mayhem) seems to have become fascinated with death and the occult after coming across Deads’ half headless body. Interviews with past Mayhem members have pretty much agreed with the fact that Euronymous changed for the worst after Dead committed suicide and have said that the photos he took (later used on a Mayhem bootleg Dawn of the Black Hearts) were his way of dealing with loosing his friend. Most of the guys in Mayhem and the Second Wave were against the burnings as they wanted the music to speak for itself and agreed that the churches were valuable not so much as places of Christian worship but as valuable examples of ancient Norwegian Architecture.

Anyway you look at the murders and arsons, the early Ninety’s have cemented Black Metals infamy in stone and has ensured that today it is Norway’s largest cultural export. The big problem is though that in black metals inception, the crimes were such a small part of the scene yet it is known more for it’s controversial history rather than its artistic and musical quality (which as an extreme metal fan I can honestly say is truly incredible). Not very many of the days artists were locked up, Varg Vikernes (Grishnahkt from Burzum – murdered Euronymous and burned the Flintoff Stave church in Bergen)), Samoth (guitarist from Emperor – arson for church burning), Tchort (Bassist from Emperor – convicted with Samoth for arson), Faust (Drummer for Emperor – stabbed a homosexual to death in Lillehammer who propositioned him) and Jørn Tunsberg (guitarist from Hades Almighty who was convicted of arson with Grishnahkt) were about the only musicians of note that were convicted of any crime. Any others were just copycat fans. In any case those who force their beliefs upon others are scum. It does more harm than good. If these kings could see what their actions had done to their country then maybe they would think twice about their methods.

Silver and Society in Late Antiquity: Functions and Meanings of Silver Plate in the Fourth to Seventh Centuries

The spectacular hoards of late antique silver – Mildenhall, Thetford, Sevso – discovered since the middle of the 20th century have aroused much interest. This book examines such questions through an integrated, synthetic analysis of the history of silver in the Roman empire between 300 and 650 AD. It…
